WAITING FOR SOME GREEN SHOOTS
58% of the season gone, 42% or 15 games left and little sign of the green shoots of recovery. With a blank weekend ahead, we might be further adrift from the pack by the time we play again on 13th February.
What started as a season with expectations of consolidation (or even more) is turning into a frustrating and tortured campaign. The fact we've lost three of the last 5 games to injury time goals suggest bad luck has turned into torment. The uplift from the change of manager was one of the shortest honeymoons on record before plumbing the depths to (an admittedly very professional and well-funded) junior side in the Cup.
Dismal autumn has turned into dismal winter with little respite. The team is not playing that badly but failure to convert chances when they arise and failure to hold on for any result, compounded by frighteningly bad home record has depressed all associated with the Lichties. The side is already much changed from 2 months' back but the jury is out as to whether loan signings will do the job. We shouldn't lose our nerve and expect miracles from later drafts.
There is still enough of the season left to turn things around. We need to win half of the remaining games and should scarpe through to safety. That's a major ask but not impossible. Lichtie fans have to keep the faith and hold their nerve - your support and encouragement is needed. A slice of luck in our direction wold help too.
