Stenny edge five-goal thriller

Stenhousemuir edged out Arbroath as they emerged 3-2 winners in a five-goal thriller.

Nothing could separate the sides in the first half and Stenhousemuir opened the scoring early in the second period as Sean Lynch's chip beat Arbroath's Scott Morrison.

The Warriors could have doubled their lead with Ross McMillan's header but it was too weak to beat Morrison.

As they were ruing the missed opportunity, Arbroath equalised three minutes later with a headed goal from Michael Travis.

Stenhousemuir were soon back in-front with Eddie Malone's goal from six yards and they soon forged a two-goal advantage as Errol Douglas fired a shot past Morrison with his first touch after replacing Ross McNeil.

Lee Erwin pulled one back for the visitors, firing a good finish into the top corner, but it was too late for Arbroath as they suffered their eighth defeat of the season.
