Stats from the Hampden game

paybackDespite fears of a reaction to last Saturday's heroic efforts, Arbroath turned on a fine display at Hampden to take major step towards the playoff finals.

Queens dumped us out of the playoffs at this stage last season after a 2-0 first leg win at the same venue - it was payback time.

as the game stats show, Queens had plenty of the game but couldn't make any of their 12 goal attempts count.  Maybe there is a gap beween Divs 1 and 2?.

The Courier: Arbroath hammered Queen's Park in the first leg of their Scottish First Division play-off semi-final.

Robert Ross broke the deadlock from close range and the visitors extended their league when James Redman headed home Ian Nimmo's corner.

Nimmo then got on the scoresheet when his header found the net from Callum Booth's centre.

The Spiders failed to deal with another set-piece as Ewan Moyes nodded in the fourth for the rampant visitors.
