Improved second half showing maintains the home run

At a chilly Gayfield, Arbroath continued their hunt for a play-off spot as they salvaged a point in a 1-1 draw with battling Forfar. We strated with a fairly defensive line-up with Black returning to fit in the back alongside Flyer, Raeside, Bishop and Tully. Tosh and Brazil were the strikeforce.

Overall we were second best to Forfar most of the afternoon they had many more corners and goal attempts. But we hung on and it was good to see Nicky Smith cement his return with a goal. Good to see Masson get a good runout as sub also

Forfar shaded the first half and took the lead after 31 minutes when Steven McNally controlled a loose ball in midfield before unleashing a stunning 30-yard drive that left Darren Hill with no chance.

But the home keeper was up to the challenge a minute later when he produced a superb one-handed save to deny Chris Anton.

The home side came out fighting in the second half with Forfar keeper Sandy Wood forced to tip over Paul Tosh's ambitious 40-yard drive.

And Arbroath levelled after 72 minutes courtesy of some poor defending as Paul Watson's low cross was fired into the bottom corner by Nicky Smith.
