Halloween Horror - the nightmare continues

Black October came to a shuddering end as Arbroath fell victim to a home-phobia.

With several injuries Flyer and Redman were in the starting lineups then Hislop was replaced by Ross a third of the way through the game.

When Stenny went ahead with a Motion goal after 19 minutes, most fans knew the writing was on the wall. Two quick goals by Love second half saw the game played out to an empty Gayfield

We've had bad runs before in better leagues but I can''t recall such an abject and abysmal home run before. We've lost all our home games by a proverbial mile

I think this result means Raeside is certainly out of the running to replace McGlashan

Stenhousemuir ended a run of five straight defeats to secure their first away win of the season.

Kevin Motion opened the scoring with a spectacular effort direct from a corner kick in the 18th minute.

A terrible mistake by Ian Dobbins gifted the Warriors a second goal in the 54th minute. The Arbroath defender played a casual ball across his own 18-yard line which was intercepted by Craig Molloy.

The Stenhousemuir attacker's shot was brilliantly blocked by Lichties goalkeeper Darren Hill but the ball rebounded to Molloy who squared for Robert Love to coolly fire high into the unguarded goal.

Love completed the scoring nine minutes later with a superb 25-yard drive which gave Hill no chance.

Raeside said: "I feel like we've been mugged. We were totally on top then they went and scored from a corner. But you create your own breaks in football and we didn't do enough when we had chances.

"I can't remember us having so many efforts on goal and crosses into the box this season. I was delighted with the way we passed the ball around and everyone worked really hard, but I'm not happy with a couple of individual errors that cost us the game."

Stenhousemuir manager John Coughlin was relieved to see his side end its recent dismal run of results.

He said: "It was a massive result for us. We haven't got the points our performances have merited recently, but we showed what we are capable of today.

"Now we'll just keep looking up to see who we can catch next. That's all you can do when you are near the bottom of the league
