Last-gasp Holmes makes point

Derek Holmes scored late on as Arbroath hit back to claim a 1-1 draw at Forfar.

Neither side offered much going forward in what was a very scrappy first half at Station Park.

The best chance of the opening period fell to Arbroath's Alexander Keddie who headed over the bar from Connor Birse's inswinging corner in the 22nd minute.

Forfar came out of the blocks well in the second period but failed to make their early chances count. Willie Robertson and Gavin Swankie tried their luck from range but both men had their efforts comfortably saved by Arbroath stopper Antony Bullock.

The hosts continued to press and finally broke the deadlock in the 74th minute when Dale Hilson found the bottom left corner of Bullock's goal from the edge of the penalty area.

Holmes then scored a last-gasp equaliser from close range in injury time.
