Goal rush ensures Arbroath success

Three goals in 14 second-half minutes gave Arbroath a 4-2 win over 10-man Stirling to keep them top of Division Two on goal difference.

Arbroath took the lead when Stirling's David McPherson diverted Steven Doris' cross into his own net after nine minutes.

Alan Cook nodded home in the 38th minute to pull the visitors level and they went ahead early in the second half as Sean Dillon headed in Cook's cross.

The turning point came in the 49th minute when Stirling's Gary Thom saw red for bringing down Josh Falkingham inside the penalty area.

Doris converted the spot-kick before turning provider for Paul Sheerin, who restored Arbroath's lead four minutes later with a left-footed finish.

Gavin Swankie ensured victory for the Red Lichties in the 65th minute, driving in from the edge of the penalty box.

Arbroath have now scored 13 times in three league games at home.
