Arbroath 4-1 Forfar- Match Report

Doris delight for Red Lichties

Steven Doris' hat-trick ensured Arbroath kept the pressure on Second Division leaders Cowdenbeath by easing to a 4-1 win over Forfar.

The night got off to an inauspicious start for the Red Lichties as Forfar took a 13th-minute lead when Bradley Coyne drove into the top corner from the edge of the area.

Arbroath needed just seven minutes to level, though, as Collin Samuel latched on to Craig Wedderburn's pass to fire past Marc McCallum.

The points were then effectively won in the space of two minutes as Doris converted Samuel's pass in the 43rd minute and 60 seconds later Doris netted from close range to double the advantage.

The Loons did make some effort to stage a comeback after the interval, with Templeman heading straight at Hill from inside the six-yard box and Coyne missing a similarly gilt-edged chance when he headed over soon after.

The icing was put on the cake with 19 minutes remaining as Doris completed his treble by converting Gavin Swankie's cross.
