Arbroath 4-1 Cowdenbeath

A great team spirited performance by Arbroath saw them win what was a very even game until the sending off of 2 lunatic Cowdenbeath players saw Arbroath gain the upper hand.

The first half was mainly dominated by Cowden with chances coming and going for Markus Paatelainen and John Ward, Paatelainen with a shot magnificently saved by Peat and Ward hammering the ball off the Arbroath crossbar.

Cowden came out and dominated after the restart, but 10 minutes in the game seemed to completely changed, when Markus Paatelainen pushed and kicked Greg Miller in retaliation for a 50/50 challenge and wasn't booked, sparking revenge filled thoughts in the minds of the Lichties players. After a few crunching challenges on Paatelainen the game suddenly started going Arbroath's way.

Mark Baxter was sent off for a disgraceful piece of behaviour on around the 65th minute. An elderly Arbroath fan chucked the ball back onto the pitch after it went onto the terrace, and it hit Mark Baxter in the face. The old man then slowly hobbled back to his position he was standing in, only for Baxter to insanely throw the ball back at him! Baxter was sent off, and I hope the nasty little man is given a good suspension by the SFL.

Arbroath then gained control, and scored a 2nd after Stein found shedloads of room and ran 30 yards with the ball and tuck it past the helpless keeper. Then say the second crazy moment of the afternoon. After an outraging challenge on John McGlashan, Iain Mauchen was sent off and a 21 man brawl insued with at least 3 players from each side punching, kicking and headbutting their opponents. Amazingly no-one was sent off for this!

In the final minute of the game, Arbroath slotted home another 2 goals with Paul Watson and Stevie Cook the goalscorers, and Mikko Paatelainen then scored a consolation with almost the last kick of the ball.
