Arbroath 3-1 Brechin- Match Report

Holmes sweet Holmes

Derek Holmes came off the bench to score his fourth goal of the season and put the seal on a 3-1 home win for Arbroath against Brechin.

The Red Lichties took the lead against their managerless Angus neighbours after 24 minutes when defender Alex Keddie headed home Paul Currie's free-kick.

The visitors came back into the game six minutes after the interval when David McKenna struck his first goal of the campaign to level the scores.

Steven Doris was presented with the opportunity to put Arbroath back in front 10 minutes later, but his 12-yard strike cannoned against the post.

Paul Sheerin's side eventually regained the advantage 15 minutes from time thanks to Currie's close-range finish.

Holmes wrapped up the victory just over a minute after coming on, nodding Mark Baxter's right-wing cross into the back of the net to condemn the Hedgemen to their fifth-straight defeat.
