paul sheerinArbroath FC's committee wasted no time in filling the untimely gap left by previous manager J** W**k*r by appointing 35-year old Paul Sheerin as the new player-manager with immediate effect.

Sheerin had apparently been interviewed for the position when it fell vacant last October and perfromed well.  His chance has come up quicker than he might have expected.   A highly rated creative midfielder, he's played for 9 senior clubs (in Scotland, England and Sweden) and most recently was also coaching the St Johnstone Under-17s see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Sheerin

Fan reaction to the appointment has been very positive.  He carried a lot of support last time and this time around any other appointment would have been difficult.   No news yet about any assistant manager.  Significantly many St Johnstone fans express a high regard for Sheerin as do fans of other sides

Still, it's going to be a challenge for him - his first managerial job at senior level AND combining this with the player role.  Still he has time to try and rebuild the squad ready for next season.   We're right behind you - its a chance for him to start his managerial career with a big impact.

Congratulations to the Board which, despite dishonorable treament by J** W**k*r and Brechin, have moved with impressive speed.
