The good news is that Michael Wallace has put pen to papers for Arbroath.

But defender Colin Hamilton and last season’s top scorer, Alan Cook, have both left the club.

Lichties’ boss Paul Sheerin told HeraldSport that Wallace has been playing with Lochore Juniors this season.

“Michael has been training with us since Christmas, but because of the position we were in we didn’t get a chance to have a look at him,” he revealed.

“He’s done well in training, he knows what we are about and we know what he can do. It’s a great opportunity for him.”

Former Hearts man Hamilton (left) has decided to join Brechin City, while, maybe surprisingly, Cook has taken the decision to join fellow League Two side East Fife.

Both had been offered terms by Sheerin.

“It was a blow to lose them,” the gaffer said. “However, as they are under 23 we get a little bit of compensation for them. In an ideal world, you would like to get more, but hopefully that money can be ploughed back into other areas of the park.”
