From the Herald:  A football documentary that features Arbroath FC as one of the stars of the show is set to receive its premiere on Sunday night.

Football Outposts, hosted by Tom Watt, better known as Lofty from Eastenders will be shown on BT Sport 1 at 10.30 p.m. and will be repeated several times throughout next week.

Tom and his crew came to Arbroath in February and filmed in locations such as the Bell Rock lighthouse, Tutties Neuk and of course Gayfield.

The show will also see interviews with club chairman John Christison and manager Paul Sheerin.

And as part of the Lichties segment of the documentary, the programme-makers said: “The story centres on how Arbroath is the most exposed stadium in Britain, being right next to the North Sea and the interplay between their sense of isolation, and, determination to survive forged from their location.”

As well as Arbroath, Tom travelled to other clubs in England and Wales to meet people who battle to ensure the future of their clubs and communities.

He said: “Everyone has heard of these clubs but many will know very little about them. What sets British football apart from all other countries is the depth and breadth of our game at all levels.

“Football Outposts digs into these questions and tells of the passion and un-ending efforts behind clubs at all levels.”

As well as Sunday’s showing, it will also be broadcast on Wednesday, August 14 at 11 a.m. and 10 p.m; Thursday, August 15 at 9.30 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. and on Tuesday, August 20 at 8 p.m.
