From The Courier: Football boss Paul Sheerin is facing court after he was allegedly caught drink-driving.
The Arbroath FC manager - who formerly starred for St Johnstone, Aberdeen and Inverness, famously scoring in the Highland side's cup win at Celtic Park in 2000 - was arrested on the outskirts of Perth in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Sheerin, who guided the Red Lichties to the Third Division Championship in his first season in charge, was pulled over in the city's Dundee Road.
The 38-year-old, who lives in Perth, was charged with drink-driving as a result.
He was taken into custody by police before later being released. He has been cited to appear on an undertaking at Perth Sheriff Court on June 14.
Arbroath FC director Malcolm Fairweather confirmed Sheerin had been charged but declined to comment further. Sheerin was not available for on Tuesday.
A spokesman for Police Scotland's Tayside Division said: "There was a male apprehended for allegedly drink-driving on Saturday morning in the early hours. He was apprehended in Perth, in the city's Dundee Road.
"I can confirm a 38-year-old male gave an undertaking to appear at on June 14."
Sheerin started his career at Alloa Athletic before moving to Southampton then Swedish side Ostersunds FK.
After returning to Scotland he joined Inverness CT before having spells at Ayr United and Aberdeen.
He then joined St Johnstone, turning out for the Perth club 187 times over a six-year stint, netting 32 goals and being named Star Saint of the Decade in a fan's poll.
In 2010 he took over at Arbroath as player manager and brought them their first national trophy in their 133-year history winning Division Three.
