The league leaders won’t have scored many goals more easily than their strike on Saturday as the Lichties followed their impressive win at Clyde with an insipid defeat.
The manager was left blasting their lack of creation again after the side failed to cause East Fife’s goalkeeper any problems whatsoever.
Campbell was forthcoming with his admission that the Fifers deserved their three points as they dominated the game, despite the hosts enjoying more of the ball in the second half.
However the Lichties did nothing with their possession and Campbell said that kind of thing is just unacceptable in his view.
The manager said: “That’s why Arbroath are having the season they’ve had.
“To lose a goal like that, it’s a goal you’d see lost by a primary school team on a Sunday morning.
“But you’d have to say on goalscoring opportunities, they had far more than us.
“We had a lot of possession in the second half but you would have to say East Fife deserved to win the game, and congratulations to them.
“I’m looking for next season. I’ve been planning for it since the first day I came in.
“You can see the frustrations I have and the frustrations everybody else has. It’s all good saying Arbroath this and that but this is where we are.
“I’m not prepared to accept a goal like that or to play at home and not make their goalie make a save. We didn’t create any chances.
“You learn something every day at this stage of the season.”
