Today Harry Cairney took charge of Arbroath, the committee confirmed. Cairney, 43, takes over after Stevie Kirk resigned followed the shocking 5-0 loss away to Forfar.

Cairney played 412 games for Brechin over a 10 year spell at the club, and knows the SFL inside out. He leaves Annan Athletic after a great start to the season for them with 4-0 and 6-0 wins. Rumour has it Cairney has also brought ex Lichtie, Stuart Sorbie, with him to be his assistant.

I hope I speak for all Lichtie's when I wish Harry good luck for the rest of this season and helps us survive in the 2nd division!
