From the Arbroath Herald: Arbroath boss Allan Moore has paid tribute to the desire and attitude of his players after what has been a sensational start to the season.
The Lichties have lost only one game in SPFL League Two and sit five points clear at the top of the table.
And the icing on the cake was beating derby rivals Montrose 3-1 in their Scottish Cup second-round replay at Links Park last weekend, with striker Paul McManus grabbing a hat-trick.
Life is looking good for Lichties fans right now and – ahead of today’s home clash with East Stirling – Moore took time out to salute his squad.
He said: “I thought over the two games against Montrose we definitely deserved to go through.
“I was a bit concerned at the amount of free-kicks we gave away around our box and that is something we will need to take a look at but overall I’m delighted.
“We created a lot of chances and that was pleasing aspect, even if we only managed to take three of them on Saturday through Paul McManus.
“It says a lot when their keeper was their man of the match.”
Early exits in the cups were tough to take for the Lichties in Moore’s first games in charge, but the gaffer added: “It was disappointing to lose those games but we were still trying to build a team and a way of playing.
“You can see the difference now and the way the players have bought into our style of football.
“On Saturday for example we changed things during the game and the guys all adapted to that right away. They have been great at carrying out instructions and their team spirit is tremendous.”
Dylan Carreiro is back from national duty with Canada and could feature tomorrow against East Stirling, a match Moore is relishing.
He said: “It’s one we are ready for. We have been on a great run in the league and hope we can continue that against East Stirling.
“The players are up for it and are ready. Results have gone well for us recently but we won’t get carried away, we’ll just keep working hard and look to get as many points as we can.”
