From SPFL website Arbroath striker Steven Milne is calling time on his 16-year career after Monday night’s meeting with Rangers at Gayfield to join the Police.
The 33-year old started out at Dundee back in 1997 and had a successful loan spell at Forfar before leaving for Plymouth in 2004.
Milne headed back to Scotland and enjoyed a six-year spell at St Johnstone, where he was part of the squad that won the First Division in 2009.
The striker had a loan spell at Ross County before signing for Dundee for a second time in 2011 and he was reunited with his former Perth team-mate Paul Sheerin at Arbroath this summer.
After 13 appearances and three goals, Sheerin is disappointed to be losing Milne as he explained: “We knew when Steven came here that he would be starting his new career at some point. We thought we would get the full season out of him but he has been called in earlier and we wish him well with that.
“He will be a loss to our dressing room as he is a really experienced player. I enjoyed playing alongside Steven at St Johnstone and he would have grabbed a few more goals for us this season but we will move on.
“We have Rangers in our next game and scoring against them would be a great way for Steven to bring the curtain down on his career.”
