Arbroath Herald: The Lichties have been training hard this week, putting in the effort ahead of their William Hill Scottish Cup fourth round clash against Bo’Ness United F.C. at Newton Park tomorrow.
Manager Allan Moore and assistant manager Todd Lumsden have not taken any chances against the last remaining Junior representative in the competition.
Incorporating their usual detailed approach to preparing for the match, the gaffer has closely analysed the Bo’Ness squad.
“Looking at them against Elgin it is clear that they are quite dangerous up front.
“Darren Gribben and Stewart Devine are dangerous going forward.
“Although we can also see from the scoresheet that they are susceptible to losing a few goals,” Moore commented to HeraldSport on Wednesday.
Kevin Nicoll will be back in action on Saturday as well as new signing Marc McCallum, currently on loan from Dundee United.
“It was a good signing,” said Moore, “Dundee United have agreed to let him play for us and that is great.
“There were rumours that he didn’t want to come down to this level. I have no idea where they came from but he’s been at training on Monday and Thursday as well as with Dundee United.
“He has been absolutely brilliant since he’s come in and has mixed with the boys really well.
“Marc did a brilliant save in the second half against Clyde. It builds confidence if you’ve got a good goalkeeper behind you.
“You know if you slip up he’s there and able to pull off a save. A good goalie is as good as a good striker.”
Moore may not want to predict the outcome of the Cup matches but he already has the eye on the prize in the league: “I’ve got a team there that are capable of winning the league.
“But the thing is, if you don’t have belief then there’s no point in coming here, there’s not point in the boys coming here. You have got to believe that there is a wee chance that you can take that title.”
