From the Herald: Arbroath manager Paul Sheerin has gone back to the future with his latest signing.
Full-back Johnny Lindsay has accepted terms to return to the club only a few weeks after he was handed a free transfer.
Lindsay played nine times last season. “Johnny has re-signed which is great as it rankled me a little bit letting him go. He didn’t play too much last season as we were probably a bit too over-reliant on Colin Hamilton and maybe he got a bit of a raw deal,” said the gaffer.
“As we know he can play on the left side and he could mix and match with [Craig] Johnstone, so I believe he is a good player to hold on to.
“Johnny is desperate to stay in the senior game, he understood my reasons for not offering a deal at the end of the season and he was delighted to sign on again.”
Regarding, the rest of his rebuilding programme, the player/boss is hopeful of doing some more business.
“We are looking at a couple of centre halfs, a goalkeeper and I am really hopeful of adding a couple of midfield players quite soon,” he added. “We want to get our business done as quickly as possible so that the players have plenty of time to work together during the pre-season.”
