Queens boss Allan Johnston saw his side rescue a point in the dying seconds to stay on course for a dream double.
Nicky Clark netted with almost the last kick of the ball after Euan Smith looked to have won it for Arbroath.
And while Johnston knows his side can play much better, he insists his runaway Second Division leaders won’t show any let-up in their bid for league and Ramsdens Cup glory.
Johnston said: “I’m pleased we kept going. Our attitude won’t change. We want to make it a dream season.
“We are in a cup final and are going for the league so we will be out to win every game we play between now and the summer.”
Queens could have been comfortable at the break had it not been for a string of top saves from Arbroath keeper Scott Morrison.
It was the woodwork that saved the home side first in 13 minutes when Gavin Reilly cracked a low 10-yard effort off the base of the post.
Paul Burns pounced on the rebound but Red Lichties defender Mark Baxter made a stunning goal-line block to keep Queens out.
And as the champions-elect cranked it up before half-time, Chris Mitchell was blocked by Arbroath defender Alex Keddie before Morrison parried another rebound from Burns.
The home side upped the ante after the break and they looked to have won it seven minutes from time when Smith unleashed a stunning 25-yard left-foot strike into the bottom corner of the net.
But deep into stoppage time, keeper Morrison was caught out of position to allow Clark to tap in.
Arbroath player-boss Paul Sheerin said: “It feels like a defeat. We put so much into the game only to make one mistake late on.”
