Dumbarton dispute our 4th goal

goallineFrom the Sunday Mail:   DUMBARTON boss Alan Adamson claimed his side were robbed of a point by ref Matt Northcroft in an action-packed seven-goal thriller.

Sons had Kevin Nicoll sent off and insist a late goal by Arbroath's Steven Doris was in fact cleared off the line.

But, in truth, a first-half goal blitz by Arbroath did the real damage.

Kieran McAnespie's goal in 21 minutes was followed by a Stuart Malcolm header four minutes later before Gavin Swankie lashed in a stunning 20-yarder in 26 minutes.

Sons bravely fought back, with Martin McNiff heading home just after the break and Scott Agnew pulling it back to 3-2 in 66 minutes.

But Dumbarton's Nicoll saw red for a lunge on Josh Falkingham and Doris restored Arbroath's two-goal cushion to leave a late McNiff goal a mere consolation.

Adamson said: "My players are adamant Arbroath's fourth didn't cross the line. The ref and linesman were 25 yards from the incident so how do they know?"

Arbroath player-boss Paul Sheerin said: "I'm delighted to win."

Fargone says - from my standing position, I think that Doris shot was well over the line - no question.
