ARBROATH boss Paul Sheerin is delighted his side’s glamour Cup clash with Rangers is done and dusted – because it has hampered their Second Division title push.
The Red Lichties’ form has slumped since the fourth-round draw paired the part-timers with the champions.
But Sheerin hopes they will get back on track after bowing out of the Scottish Cup with a 4-0 defeat.
He said: “I’m glad this tie is out of the way because it has been a bit of a hindrance to our league form.
“It was always a big ask and Rangers did a professional job.
“Now we have to get it out of our system and get back to doing what we want to do – winning the Second Division.
“We matched Rangers until the first goal but they were well worthy of the victory.
“We went for it with two up front which was maybe a wee bit naive.”
