contrastFrom the Sunday Mail:   ALAN ADAMSON watched the Sons' championship ambitions disappear then predicted the title race will go down to the wire.

Strikes from Chris Innes and Steven Doris gave Arbroath the win and left the Sons 14 points adrift of leaders Cowdenbeath.

Arbroath and Cowden will now slug it out for the final eight games with four points separating them.

Sons boss Adamson said: "You could create a great side by mixing Arbroath and Cowdenbeath together and making one team.

"Arbroath are fantastic going forward and Cowdenbeath are so strong at grinding out results.

"It's really right up there and I couldn't pick who is going to win the league out of those two."

Dumbarton came close when Mark Gilhaney cracked a 20-yard drive off the underside of the bar.

But Arbroath went ahead on 26 minutes when Innes peeled off his marker to volley in a Liam Caddis cross from close range.

Then Caddis was again provider as Doris rose above the Sons defence to head in off the bar and make it 2-0. It was all Arbroath with Paul Sheerin coming close with a lob and Josh Falkingham's 15-yard drive parried by Stephen Grindlay.

Player-boss Sheerin said: "It's Cowdenbeath's league to lose but we still believe."
