Arbroath - Inconsistency Champions

Last updated : 03 April 2008 By Fargone
With four games to go, what are we to make of this season? Our thord season in Division 3, each have been completely different.

First season down, we dumped manager Cairney in October and came back well later in the season to finish on 55 points

Second season we put together an amazing unbeaten run after Christmas to run Berwick close for the title

2005-6    Pl36 W16 D7 L13  GF57 GA47  Pts 55
2006-7    Pl36 W22 D4 L10  GF61 GA33  Pts 70
2007-8    Pl32 W13 D9 L10  GF51 GA44  Pts 48

THIS season has been marked by extreme inconsistency. We didn't a record our first win till September then won every game that month and continued unbeaten till November. Then there was bizarre December-New Year with big defeats to Albion, Forfar, and Montrose sandwiched between good wins at Elgin and East Fife. But the only time we've recorded 3 wins in a row was back in September

Our record improved into the New Year after the defence was tightened up but the goals have now dried up alarmingly. We shown a bit more backbone at Gayfield but become softer away.

Completely unpredictable - who knows how we'll finish? We've probably the most difficult final games of anyone so can't afford to slip now. Its not been convincing all year and we'll struggle to hit the 55 points total of season

Record 2007-8 by Quarter
