From the Arbroath Herald: New Arbroath boss Allan Moore is raring to go as he takes charge for the first time in a friendly clash against Aberdeen tomorrow (Saturday).
Moore (49) succeeds Paul Sheerin, who left the club recently to take up a coaching role at Aberdeen with their Under-20 team.
And the former Morton manager has already bagged his first signing, bringing in ex-Albion Rovers boss Todd Lumsden as his No.2.
Lumsden, who was coaching at Rangers last season, has earned an excellent reputation in the game and is a real coup for the club.
Both men have track records in building teams who play attractivefootball and Lichties’ fans will be delighted with their new management duo.
This is Moore’s first role back in football since being cruelly sacked by Morton last season - and he is itching to get started.
Speaking exclusively to the Arbroath Herald, Moore said: “This is an exciting opportunity for both Todd and myself. Arbroath are a great club with loyal fans and I hope to bring them the success they deserve.
“I’ve not met any of the players yet, it’s all happened quite quickly, but I can’t wait to get started in the friendly against Aberdeen on Saturday. My first priority is to get more bodies in and try to get a good mix of experience and youth.
“I have some good contacts at the various clubs I’ve played for and I’ll be looking to bring in the right type of players to Gayfield.
“Todd was in charge of Rangers’ Under-17s last season and has left a good role to come to Arbroath, but we are both ready for the challenge of getting back up the leagues.
“I wasn’t too happy at how things ended at Morton, but that’s in the past now and I’m delighted to be back in football with Arbroath.”
Arbroath chairman John Christison is delighted to get two men who are steeped in football. He said: “We had about 25 applications for the post but Allan was the stand-out candidate.
“We seemed to click right away. He’s passionate about football and both Allan and Todd have some great contacts in the game.
“It’s an exciting appointment for the club.”
Moore was in charge of Stirling Albion from 2002 until his move to Cappielow in 2010.
He steered the Greenock men to second place in the second tier in 2012/13 and a 1-0 League Cup win over Celtic at Parkhead last September but was axed in November after a 5-1 defeat by Livingston left them bottom of the table.
Morton brought in Kenny Shiels but were relegated after a disastrous five months at the helm, ending in a 10-2 humiliation against Hamilton on the final day of the season.
With the appointment of Moore as boss and Lumsden as No.2, Stewart Petrie and Neil Thomson have now left the Lichties.
